Free products for Landfill of North Iowa Residents
LNI residents “recycle” their hazardous materials by bringing leftover products such as oil-based paints, stains, varnishes, spray paints, and cleaning chemicals to the Hazardous Materials Collection Building for proper handling and recycling.
Cleaners and paints are expensive, but you can save money and help the environment by visiting our “Free Usable Products” area, located in the Hazardous Materials Collection Building. The Swap Shop is stocked with used quantities of paints, cleaning products, and other items, all free of charge to LNI residents.
The Free Usable Products Area is open during regular business hours at the landfill and doesn’t require you to drop-off anything to pick-up anything! Just come visit, but visit often because our inventory is constantly changing.

- Automotive Fluids (Antifreeze, Windshield Washer Fluid)
- Brake fluid/Engine Oil
- Household cleaners
- Lawn and garden products (fertilizers)
- Latex paint
- Oil-based paint
- Poster and craft paint
- Stains and varnishes
- Strippers and thinners
- Wallpaper remover/paste
