If your old appliance doesn’t work, see if your retailer can remove it for you when you buy a new one. You can also bring it to the Landfill of North Iowa for recycling.

Recycling might also save you money. Some energy companies will offer rebates if you buy energy-efficient models or pay you to get rid of an energy-wasting appliances. Check with your local utility company.
Almost all of the materials in a refrigerator or freezer, for example, can be recycled. This includes the metal cabinet, plastic liner, glass shelves, the refrigerant and oil in the compressor, and the blowing agent contained in polyurethane foam insulation.
